Located in Wester Ross, the Howard Doris yard at Loch Kishorn was created from nothing in one of the most remote parts of the country. Without a large local population, almost all the workforce lived in a camp onsite. Some remarkable structures were built here, notably the Ninian Central platform, at the time the heaviest structure ever moved by man, and the Maureen Alpha platform, the first steel platform designed to be refloated once it's useful life was over.
