Scotland's Rig Yards
Nigg 1974 BP Highland 1 East Ball.
They had a badly fitting setup I think on this pipe and tried to jack the gap a bit smaller. Another half done weld broke and it was quite exciting for a minute. There was a big crack and the men all ran out like from a poked bee hive. I was sitting watching on the main rig. I had welded on the lugs for the fabricators to jack against and was told to stay while they worked the 50 ton jack.
I think the recording box in the foreground was logging the temperature of the stress relieving elements on an important weld.
