Preparing for flooding.
Nigg dock gate, the discharge pipes for the two 8in. pumps can be seen in the foreground,
There were two pumps in each corner,this ensured that when the gate was pumped out it floated on an even keel after the dock was flooded.
The pump Control room is in the centre of the gate.
